Laser hair removal in Wrocław using the Motus PRO alexandrite laser

We’ve been carrying out laser hair removal for years. Initially, we used diode lasers (LightSheer Duet and Desire), and since 2025 we’ve been using the Motus PRO alexandrite laser from DEKA. We changed our equipment for one simple reason: clients most often asked us about pain and about light, fine hair, and the Motus performs best in our clinic for both. We treat calves, the bikini line (including the deep bikini line), underarms, and, for men, the back and nape of the neck.

Why we switched from LightSheer Duet and Desire to Motus PRO

Previously, we used the LightSheer Duet and Desire diode lasers. We switched to the Motus PRO alexandrite laser because clients most often asked about pain and light, fine hair — in our practice, the Motus performs better with both of these. Find out more about the differences between the lasers in the questions below.

Contraindications

Contraindications to laser hair removal

We do not carry out the procedure in the following cases, amongst others: pregnancy and breastfeeding; photosensitising medicines and herbs (including St John’s wort); following the use of oral retinoids; a recent sun tan or the use of self-tanning products; active infections and skin inflammation; herpes at the treatment site, a tendency to keloids, vitiligo, a large number of moles in the treatment area, a history of skin cancer or melanoma, tattoos at the treatment site, epilepsy, uncontrolled diabetes, anticoagulant medication, or recent hair removal or exfoliation.

This list is not exhaustive — if you have a chronic condition or are taking medication on a long-term basis, please let us know before your treatment.

Which areas do we wax, and how often?
Batch / Interval between treatments
Face 4–6 weeks
Arms / forearms 4–6 weeks
Armpits 4–6 weeks
Bikini / high-cut bikini 4–6 weeks
Calves and thighs 8–10 weeks
Back 8–10 weeks
Neck (4–10 weeks), interval to be determined on a case-by-case basis

With light-coloured and fine hair, the course of treatment may take longer than 6–8 sessions. These are approximate intervals — we only carry out the next session once the hair in that area has clearly grown back, i.e. when it enters the growth phase (anagen). Undergoing the treatment any sooner will be of no benefit: hair that is still in the resting phase will not have had time to enter the phase in which the laser can affect it.

After treatment

After laser hair removal treatment

Possible reactions: redness, irritation, itching, slight swelling around the hair follicles — these usually subside within a few hours. In rare cases, and beyond our control, a blister, temporary skin discolouration or depigmentation, or, in isolated cases, paradoxical (increased) hair growth at the treatment site may occur — if you notice any of these, please write to us or give us a call.

Over the course of a few days: a soothing cream (e.g. Alantan, Bepanthen), SPF 50; no sunbathing for at least 2 weeks; no exfoliation. Immediately after the treatment: avoid soap, rubbing alcohol, deodorant, swimming pools, saunas and hot baths.

My hair is falling out in 1–3 weeks — do not pluck or wax them during this time.

How does Motus Pro work?

How does the Alexandrite laser we use for the treatment work?

Selective photothermolysis. The laser emits light at a wavelength of 755 nm, which is absorbed by melanin, the pigment found in the hair shaft. The light energy is converted into heat, which heats the hair follicle and damages its ability to produce new hair, whilst the surrounding skin remains virtually unaffected.

Why alexandrite? The 755 nm wavelength is absorbed very strongly by melanin — according to the manufacturer’s data, around 25% more so than in the popular 810 nm diode laser. As a result, it performs better on finer and lighter-coloured hair, which contains less pigment.

Two warheads, One is used almost every time. Our device features a Moveo handpiece, which moves continuously across the skin and gradually heats the hair follicle over several passes — whilst its sapphire tip simultaneously cools the skin during treatment. We use this handpiece for almost all our treatments.

Secondly, the Spot head, It operates using a single, more powerful pulse and has no cooling system, which is why we use it rarely — only where exceptional precision is required over a very small area.

Does Motus PRO laser hair removal hurt?

The treatment is considered to be comfortable, People usually describe it as a sensation of warmth and a slight tingling. We would describe the treatment as virtually painless, but as everyone’s pain threshold is different, we cannot promise that you will feel absolutely nothing.

We used to work From the LightSheer Duet and Desire LED devices — comfort was the main reason why we switched to the Motus PRO alexandrite laser with Moveo technology (the handpiece moves continuously, whilst the sapphire tip cools the skin).

They tend to be more sensitive bikini line, underarms and upper lip. Before the treatment, we offer a free trial so you can see for yourself how it works for you.

Free consultation with a laser trial

Before your first treatment We invite you to a free consultation. It takes at least 30 minutes. We’ll carry out a consultation, rule out any contraindications, assess your hair colour and thickness as well as your skin phototype, and perform a laser test. This allows you to see how it feels, whilst we adjust the settings. Only then do we draw up a treatment plan.

Do you want to leave a tan line from your bikini or a distinct line on the back of your neck? See the question about this in the FAQs — in short: we’ll get close, but the line won’t be perfectly straight (the laser spot is circular)

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How many sessions are needed, and how often should they be carried out?

The manufacturer recommends an average of 6–8 treatments per area, though more may be needed for light-coloured and fine hair. Treatment intervals: face, arms, forearms, underarms and bikini line every 4–6 weeks; legs (calves, thighs) and back every 8–10 weeks. This is due to the hair growth cycle: the laser only works on hairs in the growth phase (anagen), and at any given time only some of the hairs in a particular area are in this phase — the rest only return after a certain period. A shorter interval does not speed up the results, as we are treating the same hairs rather than those that are yet to enter the growth phase. Conversely, too long a gap allows them to grow back to their full length.

How should I prepare for the procedure and what should I wear?

4 weeks beforehand: no waxing, epilators or tweezers (shaving only); no sunbathing or self-tanning. The day before: shave the area thoroughly with a disposable razor — we do not shave on the spot. On the day of your appointment: clean, dry skin, free from lotions and antiperspirant. Clothing: loose trousers or a skirt down to the calves and in the bikini area; a strappy top for the underarms; and a shirt for the back and neck that is easy to take off. For your back, ask a close friend or family member to help you shave the day before.

Can I leave a strip of hair or a precise line at the nape of my neck?

We can get close to this, but not perfectly. Our laser has a circular treatment spot, so the line will never be as straight as if drawn with a ruler, and we don’t create patterns. This applies to all areas, particularly the bikini line and the nape of the neck. Shaving the area thoroughly the day before helps us see where the boundary should be — we’ll agree on this with you before the treatment.

Can my daughter come for laser hair removal?

Yes, but with some caveats. We accept minors from the age of 16, subject to written consent from a parent or guardian who is present at the consultation. In young people, hormone levels are often still stabilising, so new hair may also appear after a course of treatment — we therefore cannot guarantee a permanent result after the standard number of sessions. We usually advise starting once puberty has stabilised. Mum and daughter are welcome to come along together for a consultation.

Do men have their backs and necks waxed at your salon?

Yes, more and more often. The back takes about 40 minutes. We don’t shave on the spot, and it’s difficult to shave your back yourself, so it’s best to ask a loved one for help the day before your appointment. At the nape of the neck, the boundary with the hair on your head is important for aesthetic reasons — shave it carefully, bearing in mind the round laser spot (see the question about the line/strip). Men’s hair tends to be thicker and denser, so the course of treatment may take longer.

Alexandrite or diode laser — how do they differ?

The LED version penetrates deeper and is effective on thick, dark hair. The alexandrite laser (755 nm, our Motus PRO) works at a shallower depth and is absorbed more strongly by melanin, so it is better at targeting finer and lighter hair, and many people describe it as gentler. We previously worked with the LED-based LightSheer Duet and Desire, but after several years we switched to the alexandrite laser mainly for these two reasons: pain and light-coloured hair. For very thick, dark hair, both types produce good results.

Why is the result sometimes less effective than I expected?

The most common reasons: grey, red or very light-coloured hair (low melanin levels), hormones (the bikini line, nape of the neck and face are more sensitive to them), hair removal by waxing or tweezing during a course of treatment, a tan on the day of the treatment, and irregular treatment intervals. Based on our observations in the clinic — this is not a scientific study — people who have previously undergone IPL or other laser treatments are more likely to experience weaker results, as some of their hair may already be weakened and lightened. This is not always the case — we assess this on a case-by-case basis during a trial session.

Will my hair grow back after the whole course of treatment?

There are usually significantly fewer hairs, they are finer and grow back more slowly, but we cannot guarantee that there will be no hair at all — this is normal even with the best equipment. Hormones, age and medication may, over time, reactivate individual new hair follicles. After a course of treatment, a single touch-up session every now and then is sometimes all that’s needed.

When is the best time to start: in summer or winter?

It’s most convenient in autumn and winter, as the skin isn’t tanned; we don’t carry out treatments on tanned skin (the power has to be reduced, which weakens the effect). After the summer holidays, wait about 4 weeks from your last tanning session. It is also possible in summer, provided your skin is naturally tanned and you consistently use SPF 50.

How much does hair removal cost for the calves, bikini line and underarms?

Per treatment: underarms 200 zł, basic bikini line 200 zł, full bikini line including the cleft of the buttocks 300 zł, calves and knees 350 zł, back 400 zł, neck 200–300 zł (prices are subject to change). A discount applies to packages of 4 and 6 treatments — the full price list is available further up on this page.

Does the skin become irritated after the treatment, and when can I return to work?

The Motus Pro laser treatment requires no recovery time – immediately after your appointment at the salon on Aleja Armii Krajowej in Wrocław, you can return straight away to work and your everyday activities. A natural and fully controlled reaction of the skin is usually mild redness or slight swelling around the hair follicles, which subsides on its own within a few hours
